Mr. Steven Viola

B.A. in Piano Performance, William Paterson University

M.A. in Piano Performance, Montclair State University

Steven Viola believes: "If you are learning, studying, and playing the piano then, therefore, you are a pianist." Steven has been studying and playing piano for over twenty years with a long-time teacher, mentor, and friend Yuka Yanagi from Tokyo, Japan. Steven has his Master's Degree in Classical Piano Performance from Montclair State University, John J. Cali School of Music. In addition to studying with Mrs. Yanagi, he has studied under Dr. David Witten (MSU), Dr. Soyeon Kim (BU), Dr. Youn-Hee Kim (MSU), and Dr. Lisa Yui from the Manhattan School of Music and Julliard. He has performed at Steinway Recital Hall in NYC, Shea Recital Hall at William Paterson University, Lincoln Center several times, and Leshowitz Recital Hall at MSU. Steven's ideal performance is audience engagement. His shows are interactive and energetic, similar to his personality. His goal is to make Classical Music accessible to everyone.

Steven Viola's students have had some wonderful achievements. His students have gone to study at colleges such as Berklee College of Music, and Belmont University School of Music. Steven's students have also gone on to enter competitions, such as the Young Maestro International Competition, and have placed second in certain respected categories. His students also place high-outstanding marks on MEANJ's Annual Piano Auditions. Steven, like his teacher before him, sets to craft top-notch performers and players.
